Participation of Marine Cluster Bulgaria in the European Maritime Day 2018
Marine Cluster Bulgaria participated actively in the European Maritime Day 2018, which was held on 31 May and 1 June 2018 in Burgas.
The event was held within the framework of the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union. The main conference and seminars were attended by business representatives from various maritime sectors, clusters, scientific and research institutions, environmental associations, local, regional, national and European authorities. The Forum discussed the achievements and necessary joint actions for the development of the maritime sector in the EU.
A representative of Marine Cluster Bulgaria briefly described to the audience the project "Blue Career Centre of Eastern Mediterranean and Black Sea - MENTOR", implemented jointly by 7 partners. He underlined the main aim – utilizing the advantages of the inter-cluster networking, to create the Centre as a regional platform for dialogue between various stakeholders to attract young people to maritime professions.
Marine Cluster Bulgaria organized a seminar "Ports and Clusters - Drivers of Economic Growth in European Territories" in cooperation with the French sea innovation cluster Pôle Mer Méditerranée. The two organizations have been presented, as well as the activities ad achievements of two projects: the “Blue Connect” - European Cooperation Project and Maritime Clusters Network for Blue Growth “Blue NET”. The Managing Director of the Dutch Maritime Cluster (Nederland Maritiem Land), acting also as Chairman of the European Network of Maritime Clusters (ENMC) shared good practices for strengthening the innovative Small and Medium-sized Enterprises in Blue Growth and Port activities.
Following the presentations, the participants in the workshop were involved in a fruitful discussion on the need of closer co-operation between business and the administration to achieve economic growth in the regions.
