Outstanding success of "Blue Careers Day"
On November 15, 2018, Marine Cluster Bulgaria organized a Blue Career Day in collaboration with the Naval Academy, the Technical University of Varna and the College of Tourism -Varna. The event, outlining the development of important maritime sectors in Bulgaria and the training of personnel for the “Blue Economy” gathered over 250 participants - students, from high schools and universities, representatives of educational and training institutions as well of the business.
The Chair of the Management Board of Marine Cluster Bulgaria, Mrs. Ilze Atanasova opened the event. She stressed that development of all sectors, identified in the “Blue Growth” Strategy needs well-trained and qualified staff to respond to the business requirements and ever-evolving technologies.
The participants were welcomed by Mr. Karagyozov, Deputy Regional Governor, Mr. Nikola Hristov , Chairman of the Bulgarian Association of Ship Brokers and Agents (BASBA), ) Mr. Svilen Kraychev, sScretary of the Bulgarian Shipping Chamber (BSC), Assoc. Prof. Daniela Toneva from the Technical University of Varna.
Professionals presented to the audience the perspectives for career development in sectors such as shipping and port activities, shipbuilding and ship repair, cruise tourism, offshore oil and gas, marine aquaculture, and highlighted requirements to jobseekers in the sectors mentioned. The variety of professions in the major maritime sectors was demonstrated through advertising videos and printed matterial - flyers and brochures.
The forum was attended by representatives of Constanta Marine University- partner within the Mentor project and university students who exchanged experience with their Bulgarian counterparts.
During the second part of the event, the students had the opportunity of meeting, holding conversations and getting more information from educational institutions, professional qualification centers and companies.
