Marine Cluster Bulgaria was part of the program of initiatives dedicated to the official Day of Varna

On International Youth Day, Varna once again demonstrated why the sea is not only an important part of the city’s identity, but also a source of significant potential for development, innovation and new professional opportunities.

Marine Cluster Bulgaria was pleased to take part in the programme organised by the Municipality of Varna, joining other local organisations to present our activities and some of the opportunities the blue economy can offer young people.

Our team introduced visitors to opportunities available through the Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) for businesses, entrepreneurs and young people, as well as to EIT Water and the growing European community around water, innovation, entrepreneurship and sustainable development.

Through our “Maritime Facts on the Horizon” quiz, we turned knowledge about Varna, the sea and the blue economy into a fun challenge. Participants discovered interesting facts about the city and the sectors shaping the blue economy, while the top performers received prizes, including materials from the European Maritime Day in My Country initiative.

Visitors could also explore educational materials provided by our partners from Lessplastic Bulgaria, including a guide to Black Sea shells and a booklet dedicated to plastic waste.

For us, initiatives like this are valuable because they create space for conversation – about the opportunities available to young people, how an idea can become a project, and how local knowledge and talent can be connected with European partners, networks and resources.
