EIT Water's regional CLC BLack sea event -SPLASH Black Sea 2026 - brings together leading representatives of the water, marine and maritime sector in Burgas

 

On 2 October 2026, the International Congress Center Burgas will host SPLASH Black Sea 2026, an EIT Water CLC Black Sea regional event dedicated to the present and future of the Black Sea water, marine and maritime innovation ecosystem.

The event will bring together representatives from industry, research and academia, public authorities, innovators, entrepreneurs, investors and other key stakeholders to exchange knowledge and perspectives and identify new opportunities for cooperation and innovation. The event is organised by Marine Cluster Bulgaria with the support of EIT Water. The activity is co-funded by the European Union.

Connecting the Black Sea with Europe’s wider innovation ecosystem

Water resources, seas and oceans underpin a wide range of economic activities, while at the same time facing increasing pressure from climate change, pollution, resource constraints and the need for more sustainable management.

EIT Water addresses these interconnected challenges by bringing together Europe’s water, marine and maritime communities to accelerate the development and uptake of solutions that protect water resources, strengthen climate resilience, improve European competitiveness and contribute to Europe’s water security.

SPLASH Black Sea 2026 will place a particular emphasis on the role of the Black Sea region within this wider European innovation landscape, creating opportunities to connect regional expertise, research capabilities and entrepreneurial potential with European innovation networks and ecosystems.

From ideas to practical solutions and partnerships

The event is designed to go beyond the exchange of information and provide a practical environment for knowledge sharing, identifying synergies and building new partnerships.

Participants will have the opportunity to explore practical solutions and ideas with the potential to be applied and scaled across regions, while identifying common interests and opportunities at the intersection of business, research, the public sector and innovation communities.

A central ambition of SPLASH Black Sea 2026 is to connect ideas, expertise and organisations, creating the conditions for discussions during the event to develop into future initiatives, partnerships and collaborations with long-term impact across the Black Sea region and beyond.

The event will also provide a platform for exploring opportunities for European and regional cooperation, strengthening the links between the Black Sea innovation ecosystem and the wider European water, marine and maritime community.

SPLASH Black Sea 2026 will take place on 2 October 2026, from 09:00 to 16:00, at the International Congress Center Burgas, Bulgaria.

The working language of the event will be English.
